Where Learning and Friendships Grow
With the warm weather now upon us, many families will be seeking to spend time outdoors and possibly travel to locations throughout the county and beyond that have open water, including lakes, rivers, canals, or even coastal waters - but unfortunately, higher heat means higher risk!
Latest research tells us that the risk of accidental drowning is five times higher when the air temperature is 25 degrees or higher, and every year we see a tragic spike in drownings during the hot weather. And most of them are preventable. We want to make sure families are aware of the possible risks and are taking all the necessary steps when near and/or on the water.
