(Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator)
Introducing our SENDCo (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator)
Here at Cranbourne Primary School, our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Adele Hicks. Adele has been teaching for almost 30 years and during that time her roles within Education have ranged from being a class teacher to working for Specialist Support Services; supporting pupils being Educated Other Than at School, Teaching Pupils in alternative provisions, and working with schools advising and supporting staff/pupils with SEN issues.
Adele joined Cranbourne in 2010 (when her 3 children were here) and has taught classes throughout the school. She is now part of the team that supports Cranbourne Staff and Pupils with Special Educational Needs. She firmly believes that every child is an individual and we are here to help that individual flourish.
What is an SENDCo?
Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Cranbourne Primary School’s SEND policy, by providing supplementary support for children with special educational needs.
Adele, consults and liaises with parents, teachers and other professionals who are involved with the well-being of our children with special educational needs. Ensuring that support to these children is co-ordinated and targeted appropriately, by regularly informing and updating all involved with each child’s well-being, so they understand how best to help with the child’s unique needs.
To contact Adele, please email SENDCo@cranbourneprimary.com or phone the school office on 01344 882350.
